    Prevent gearcase damage and protect your skeg with SkegShield® by Gator Guards. Installs in minutes to repair an already broken skeg with 27 American-made models engineered to fit your exact outboard or inboard. If your engine model is not listed, unfortunately, we do not have a model that will fit your specific needs.

    With your keel guarded and your bow shielded from damage, there is one part of the boat that is still exposed to excessive risk of damage, and that is your skeg. Gator Guards offers an extensive line of SkegShield skeg guards to protect your outboard or stern drive from damage.

    All SkegShields are made of 18-gauge, mirror finish polished 316 marine grade stainless steel. The SkegShield is further reinforced on the lower edge for protection that makes SkegShield twice as strong as any OEM skeg. SkegShield doesn’t stop there, we were the first to include a drain hole to prevent water retention & corrosion!

    Installation Tips:

    All SkegShields are easy to install. There is no welding—no messy glue, adhesive or epoxy, and best of all no curing or down time. You’ll be back on the water in under 30 minutes and since we don’t have a foot or skid plate welded on the bottom we won’t affect your boat’s performance. If your motor is still under warranty – please check with your manufacturer about drilling holes in the skeg to mount a skeg guard.

    Warranty & Guarantee

    1. Does my purchase include a warranty?

    Yes — every order includes the full manufacturer warranty. Coverage length varies by brand (typically 1–3 years for Garmin, Lowrance, Raymarine, Simrad, Humminbird, Furuno, and others).

    2. How do I register for warranty coverage?

    Register directly with the manufacturer using your unit’s serial number. Manufacturer registration is the fastest path to warranty support if you ever need it.

    3. What does the manufacturer warranty cover?

    Defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Damage from impact, improper installation, or saltwater corrosion (without protection) may be excluded. Check brand-specific terms in your unit’s documentation.

    4. Can I extend the warranty?

    Some manufacturers offer extended-coverage programs through their registration portals. We don’t sell third-party warranty programs.

    1. How fast does my order ship?

    Orders placed before 4pm EST Monday–Friday ship the same business day via UPS from our NJ or FL warehouses. Continental US delivery typically takes 3–7 business days for Economy.
